I know very little about cameras, but I can recognize a good quality picture when I see it.
Consumer Reports rated this camera is quite high, but I found images produces flat-out terrible.
An object, shot six feet horizontally distorted, no matter the camera settings.
Close-ups were better. In fact, my family and I took the same shot with four devices: an iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, an Android phone HTC Incredible, and the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX5V.
The Cyber-shot came in the third, after the incredible HTC (very nice quality, especially for a phone) and the iPhone 4 (second place).
The photos Cyber-shot has been washed, as if the flash was too bright - only there was lightning.
Other times the pictures were blurred, as if the light was too low.
We, therefore, distorted, blurred and indistinct. Not much to be impressed.
